Hey all after using my 11 - 21 air staff for ages i decided to equip a sword for fun and found out that my spells can do just the same damage?! I don't understand this and any advice about weapon attributes and what they effect wud be much apprechiated!

surprise.

you can swing a sword without having any effect on spellcasting

but unless you have points in swordmanship to meet the min requirement you wont do much damage with it

ah okay yeh i understand that... but why does my spells cause the same damage with the sword with no lightning damage as my max air staff? Thats what i don't get :/ whats the 11 - 22 Dmg mean if my spells do just as much damage?

That's the damage you would do if you attacked with the staff instead of casting a spell.

doesnt it merely change the damage to lightning instead of increasing it?

*x* amount of damage in any flavor so to speak?

certain armors are more physically resistant, while other armors are more elementally resistant, while some are even lightning-specifically resistant. Some creatures even have various slash/pierce/blunt resistences, thus the array of weapon types.

*EDIT: oh, and some spells deal with lightning-specific attacks (ie Glimmering Mark), while others deal with physical-specific attacks (like Barbs).
